POV: Dual, Third Personsynopsis3Lexi Jewell left Scarlet Springs twelve years ago, vowing never to return to the eccentric Colorado mountain town where she grew up. Now, here she is—over thirty, out of a job and with little choice but to move back in with her father. Lexi knows it’s just a matter of time before she runs into Austin Taylor, her first boyfriend and her first heartbreak. She’s determined to show him she’s over him—until he steps out of a pickup truck and back into her life, looking sexy as hell in his mountain ranger uniform.

As far as Austin is concerned, Lexi can turn her snazzy little convertible around and drive back to Chicago. After all, she ripped his teenage heart apart and turned her back on the town he loves. But from the moment he sees her again, he can’t get her out of his mind. Even her smile messes with his head.

When an evening of conversation turns into something else, Lexi and Austin agree to be friends again—with benefits. But as Lexi starts making plans to return to the big city, Austin realizes he’ll lose her a second time unless he can show her that what she’s searching for has been right here all along.dividerreview1

This is a second chance romance book. Lexi Jewell is a CPA who just resigned from her job due to sexual harassment, so she comes back home to Colorado for a few weeks to help reconcile his Dad and stepmother relationship after twelve years. Austin Taylor is her ex-boyfriend. Austin is a dirty talker paramedic/part of Search and Rescue Team and a park ranger. Hooottt!

So Lexi comes across a dog while driving back to Colorado and tried to rescue it but couldn’t, so she decided to call the 911. Eric Hawke (Book #2 is about him and Vic, Lexi’s best friend from Chicago) arrives, who had a crush on her since high school, a Chief firefighter and friend of Austin. Austin also comes never thought of seeing his ex-girlfriend who shred his heart into pieces. But after all these years, his feelings for her never left and his love her is stronger than before. Lexi was hired to work pro-bono for the Team as forensic accountant. They reunited and settled for friends-with-benefits since Lexi is only going to be leaving again soon and we know that won’t work when two hearts are involved.

I fell in love with Austin. He’s loving, sweet, and caring while Lexi is endearing and cute. They both have a kinky side – the handcuff scene was a laugh out loud moment *wiggle eyebrows* They’re really cute couple and meant to be!

The book has a little bit of suspense. Lexi was saved by the SAR team when she was carried out to an abandoned mine shaft breaking her shin. There’s a memorable scene where the townspeople were there for her showing her that Colorado where she truly belongs. The accident was also a pivotal point for her Dad to wake up and straighten his life. It was beautiful.

It was a sweet, heartwarming story and adored it. Can’t wait for Hawke and Vic’s Slow Burn book #2.footer1
